Q: How did you stay motivated throughout your undergraduate career at ASU?
A: My primary motivation came from the support and encouragement I received from my professors. They were a constant reminder of the power of networking and its importance in our careers. Additionally, joining clubs and attending events allowed me to meet like-minded individuals and create lasting memories. Despite some struggles with balancing schoolwork and personal interests during my earlier years at ASU, I believe everything happens for a reason. Reflecting on these experiences has helped shape my motivation and drive throughout my undergraduate career.
Q: How did you balance your studies and work while in college?
A: Balancing schoolwork, jobs, and extracurrciplinary activities was a challenge for me, particularly during the latter half of my time at ASU. However, I learned to prioritize my responsibilities effectively. Regularly attending events and joining clubs helped create a well-rounded experience while still managing academic commitments.
Q: What has been your favorite class or professor during your college career?
A: While I took various classes throughout my undergraduate journey at ASU, the Fashion and Merchandising program offered by the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts stands out as one of my favorites. The professors in this program were engaging, knowledgeable, and encouraged creative thinking.
Q: What is a piece of advice you’d give to current ASU students?
A: My primary piece of advice would be to make the most out of your college experience. Attend events, join clubs and organizations, and network with peers and industry professionals. These opportunities not only enrich your academic journey but also create unforgettable memories.
Q: How have you prepared for your career in marketing after graduating from ASU?
A: I’ve been fortunate to gain valuable experiences both on campus and through my work at Design and Arts Corps. The fellowship within the organization allowed me to participate in creating events for students, which helped reignite my passion for event planning. This experience has prepared me well for a career in marketing by providing practical skills and hands-on opportunities.
Q: What is your next step after graduation?
A: After completing my studies at ASU, I plan to further develop my event planning skills. The Fusion Gala project was a significant stepping stone in this regard. I also aspire to continue working with Design and Arts Corps while exploring opportunities that allow me to combine my love for marketing, events, and creativity.
For the third question:
If you were given $40 million to solve one problem on our planet, what would be your solution?
As a student at Arizona State University (ASU), I am deeply passionate about addressing global hunger. If I had access to $40 million with the purpose of solving this pressing issue, my approach would involve several strategies:
- Implementing and scaling up sustainable agricultural practices: This could include providing education and resources for small-scale farmers in developing countries to adopt improved crop varieties, irrigation techniques, soil management methods, and other environmentally friendly practices that increase productivity while conserving natural resources.
- Supporting organizations working directly with communities affected by hunger: Fund partnerships between governments, nonprofits, and local community groups in regions facing food scarcity. Investment would be directed toward programs focused on providing nutritious foods as well as education and skills training for self-sufficiency.
- Promoting research into innovative food production technologies: Funding advancements in plant-based proteins, vertical farming, or hydroponics can help increase the availability of affordable, high-quality food supplies while using less land and water resources.
- Strengthening global supply chains: Investing in infrastructure improvements to enhance transportation systems for better distribution of agricultural products, particularly focusing on regions that are currently underserved or have limited access due to geographic isolation.
- Supporting policy-making and advocacy efforts at national and international levels: Work with organizations such as the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in promoting policies that address food security, nutrition, sustainable agricultural practices, trade agreements for fair access to markets, and investments in research and development.
Ultranomics would be responsible for managing these funds efficiently while ensuring transparency and oversight over the projects funded, with a focus on generating long-term sustainable impacts that not only tackle hunger but also contribute to building resilience within communities facing food insecurity.
In summary, my vision as an individual entrusted with this $40 million would involve a multi-faceted approach that combines innovative agricultural practices and technologies, targeted support for vulnerable populations, strengthening supply chains, and advocating for policies that prioritize food security. Through these efforts, we could make significant strides in alleviating global hunger while simultaneously addressing other related challenges such as sustainability, climate change, and economic development.
